ಗಣರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವವು ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ರಜಾದಿನವಾಗಿದೆ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಶವು 26 ಜನವರಿ 1950 ರಂದು ಭಾರತದ ಸಂವಿಧಾನವು ಜಾರಿಗೆ ಬಂದ ದಿನಾಂಕವನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಭಾರತ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಕಾಯಿದೆ 1935 ಅನ್ನು ಭಾರತದ ಆಡಳಿತ ದಾಖಲೆಯಾಗಿ ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಿತು, ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರವನ್ನು ಪರಿವರ್ತಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷ್ ರಾಜ್‌ನಿಂದ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕವಾದ ಗಣರಾಜ್ಯ.

ಸಂವಿಧಾನವನ್ನು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸಂವಿಧಾನ ಸಭೆಯು 26 ನವೆಂಬರ್ 1949 ರಂದು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸಿತು ಮತ್ತು 26 ಜನವರಿ 1950 ರಂದು ಜಾರಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿತು. 26 ಜನವರಿಯನ್ನು ಗಣರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವದ ದಿನಾಂಕವಾಗಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು, ಅದು 1930 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತದ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯದ ಘೋಷಣೆಯಾದಾಗ ಆ ದಿನವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಭಾರತೀಯ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಘೋಷಿಸಿತು.

ಭಾರತವು ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 15, 1947 ರಂದು ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರವಾದ ನಂತರ, ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 29 ರಂದು, ಡಾ. ಬಿ.ಆರ್. ಅಂಬೇಡ್ಕರ್ ಅವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಕರಡು ಸಮಿತಿಯನ್ನು ನೇಮಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಸಮಿತಿಯು ಸಂವಿಧಾನದ ಕರಡನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ಧಪಡಿಸಿ ನವೆಂಬರ್ 4, 1947 ರಂದು ವಿಧಾನಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಡಿಸಿತು. ಇದನ್ನು ನವೆಂಬರ್ 26, 1949 ರಂದು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು ಮತ್ತು ಅನೇಕ ಪರಿಷ್ಕರಣೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ತಿದ್ದುಪಡಿಗಳ ನಂತರ, ಭಾರತದ ಸಂವಿಧಾನವು ಜನವರಿ 26, 1950 ರಂದು ಜಾರಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿತು. ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಚಳುವಳಿ, ಜನವರಿ 26, 1929 ರಂದು, ಭಾರತೀಯ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಪೂರ್ಣ ಸ್ವರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಗುರಿಯಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿತು. ಲಾಹೋರ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಅಧಿವೇಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ನಿರ್ಧಾರವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಯಿತು ಮತ್ತು ದಿನವನ್ನು ಪೂರ್ಣ ಸ್ವರಾಜ್ ದಿನ ಎಂದು ಘೋಷಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿಯೇ ಭಾರತದ ಸಂವಿಧಾನವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯದ ನಂತರ ಈ ದಿನದಂದು ಜಾರಿಗೆ ತರಲಾಯಿತು.
