ರಜಪೂತ್ ಮದುವೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಐಯ್ಯರ್ ಮದುವೆಗಳು ಹೀಗೆ ವಿಂಗಡಿಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತವೆ. ಹಿಂದೂಗಳು ಈ ಮದುವೆಗಳ ಸಂಬಂಧಕ್ಕೆ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಮಹತ್ವ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಮದುವೆಯ ಸಮಾರಂಭಗಳು ರಂಗುರಂಗಿನಿಂದಲ್ಲದೇ ಅದ್ದೂರಿಯಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ಅದಲ್ಲದೇ ಈ ಸಮಾರಂಭಗಳು ಹಲವು ದಿನಗಳ ವರೆಗೂ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತವೆ.

ಅಷ್ಟವಿವಾಹ ಪದ್ದತಿಗಳು :

೧.ಬ್ರಹ್ಮವಿವಾಹ – ತಂದೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾವಂತ ಮನುಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಮದುವೆ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾಪಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕವಾಗಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸೂಕ್ತವಾಗಿ ಮದುವೆ ವರ ಮತ್ತು ವಧು ಮತ್ತು ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳು ಸ್ವಇಚ್ಛೆಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರಸ್ತಾವಗಳನ್ನು ಘಟಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಎರಡು ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಬಂಧಿಗಳು ಸೇರಿ ವೈದಿಕವಾಗಿ ಮದುವೆ ಸಮಾರಂಭವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ರೀತಿಯ ಮದುವೆ ಈಗ ಆಧುನಿಕ ಭಾರತ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಂದೂಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ವ್ಯಾಪಕವಾಗಿ ಹರಡಿದೆ.

೨.ದೈವವಿವಾಹ –ಈ ರೀತಿಯ ಮದುವೆ ತಂದೆ ಪಾದ್ರಿಗೆ ಆಭರಣಗಳ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳು ಧಾರೆ ಎರೆದು ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಈ ರೂಪದ ಮದುವೆ ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ. ಯಜ್ಞ ತ್ಯಾಗದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಭವಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದವು.

೩.ರಾಕ್ಷಸ ವಿವಾಹ – ಗಂಡು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೆಣ್ಣಿನ ಒಪ್ಪಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯದೇ ಬಲವಂತವಾಗಿ ಆಗುವ ವಿವಾಹ. ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಬಲತ್ಕಾರವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಯಾದರೂ ಮದುವೆ ಆಗುವಂತಹುದು.

೪.ಆರ್ಷವಿವಾಹ – ಈ ರೀತಿಯ ಮದುವೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವರನು ಒಂದು ಹಸು ಮತ್ತು ಎಮ್ಮೆಯನ್ನು ವಧುವಿನ ತಂದೆಗೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾನೆ ಮತ್ತು ತಂದೆ ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಮದುವೆ ವಿನಿಮಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾನೆ. ವರನು ಮತ್ತು ವಧು ಕುಟುಂಬ ಜೀವನದ ತನ್ನ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸುವ ಶಪಥ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.

೬.ಗಾಂಧರ್ವ ವಿವಾಹ- ಹೆಣ್ಣು-ಗಂಡು ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡು, ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯಾಗಿ, ಮನಃಸಾಕ್ಷಿಗೆ ಅನುಗುಣವಾಗಿ ಆಗುವ ಮದುವೆ.
