ಭಾರತೀಯ ಕರಕುಶಲ ಪ್ರಕಾರಗಳು ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ರೂಪಾಂತರಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಗಾಗಿವೆ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದ ಪ್ರಾವೀಣ್ಯತೆಯು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಬದಲಾಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಭಾರತೀಯ ಕರಕುಶಲ ವಸ್ತುಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯದ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ವೈಭವಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಪಂಚದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ಪಡೆದಿವೆ. ಭಾರತದ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಸಂಪ್ರದಾಯಗಳು ವಿವಿಧ ರೀತಿಯ ಕರಕುಶಲ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಉತ್ಪಾದಿಸುವ ಸಾಧನೆಯನ್ನು ಸಕ್ರಿಯಗೊಳಿಸಿವೆ. ಕರಕುಶಲ ವಸ್ತುಗಳು ವಿವಿಧ ವಸ್ತುಗಳು, ವಿಷಯಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಾವೀಣ್ಯತೆಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದೆ. ಮರಗೆಲಸ, ಕುಂಬಾರಿಕೆ, ಕೈ ಮಗ್ಗಗಳು, ಟೆರಾಕೋಟಾ, ವರ್ಣಚಿತ್ರಗಳು, ಮಣಿ ಕೆಲಸ, ಆಭರಣಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಕಸೂತಿ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿಗಳ ಕೆಲಸಗಳು ಶತಮಾನಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಉಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿವೆ. 

1917 ರಿಂದ, ರಷ್ಯಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಶಲಕರ್ಮಿಗಳು ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ತೀವ್ರವಾಗಿ, ಅವರು ನಿರ್ಮಾಪಕರ ಸಹಕಾರ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾದರು ಕೈಬಿಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಆದರೆ ಈಗ ರಷ್ಯಾದ ಕರಕುಶಲ ಹಲವಾರು ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾದ ಜಾನಪದ ಕಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕರಕುಶಲ ಸೇರಿವೆ.

*ಕಮ್ಮಾರಿಕೆ : 

ಕೆಲವೊಂದು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಕರಕುಶಲ ಕಲೆಗಳು

ಕಬ್ಬಿಣ ಲೋಹವನ್ನು ಉಪಕರಣಗಳನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿ, ಅವುಗಳ ಉಪಯೋಗ ಮಾನವನಿಗೆ ದೊರಕುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಲೆತ್ನಿಸಿದ ಕಲೆಯೇ ಕಮ್ಮಾರಿಕೆ. ಬರಿಯ ಲೋಹ ವ್ಯರ್ಥ. ಕಮ್ಮಾರಿಕೆ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದ ಅನಂತರ ವ್ಯವಸಾಯಕ್ಕೆ, ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ, ವಾಹನಗಳಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತಿತರ ಮಾನವೋಪಯೋಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಅದರ ಬಳಕೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. ಮೊದಮೊದಲು ಕಬ್ಬಿಣದ ಲೋಹ ಹೇಗೆ ದೊರಕಿತೋ ಅದೇ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾನವ ಅದನ್ನು ಕುಟ್ಟಿ, ಬಡಿದು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದಷ್ಟು ಹರಿತ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಅನಂತರ ಕಾಯಿಸಿದ ಕಬ್ಬಿಣವನ್ನು ಯಾವ ರೂಪಕ್ಕಾದರೂ ತಿದ್ದಬಹುದೆಂಬ ಅಂಶ ಅರಿವಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಹೊಸ ದಿಗಂತವೇ ಕಾಣಿಸಿತೆಂದು ಹೇಳಬಹುದು.

ಕಮ್ಮಾರಿಕೆಯ ಪ್ರಯೋಜನ ಹಿಂದಿನಿಂದಲೂ ತಿಳಿದ ವಿಷಯವೇ ಆಗಿದೆ. ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ವ್ಯವಸಾಯ ಮತ್ತು ಯುದ್ಧಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಉಪಕರಣ, ಆಯುಧಗಳನ್ನು ತಯಾರಿಸುವುದು ಅಂದಿನಿಂದಲೂ ನಡೆದುಬಂದ ವಾಡಿಕೆ. ವ್ಯವಸಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಕುಡುಗೋಲು, ಕಳೆಕುಡುಗೋಲು, ಗುಳ, ಜಿಗಣಿ, ಕೊಡಲಿ, ಕೈಬಾಚಿ ಮುಂತಾದ ಉಪಕರಣಗಳ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಆಗಾಗ್ಗೆ ತಟ್ಟಬೇಕಾಗಿ ಬರುವ ನೇಗಿಲಿನ ಗುಳ, ಕಬ್ಬಿಣ ನೇಗಿಲಿನ ಹಲ್ಲೆ, ಹಾರೆಯ ತುದಿ, ಪಿಕಾಸಿಯ ಮೊನೆ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿಗಳು ಸದಾ ಕಮ್ಮಾರನ ಬಳಿ ಬಿದ್ದಿರುತ್ತವೆ. ಇವೆಲ್ಲಕ್ಕೂ ಮಕುಟಪ್ರಾಯವಾಗಿ ಎತ್ತಿನ ಗಾಡಿಯೊಂದು ಚಕ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವನ ದಯೆಯನ್ನು ಹಾರೈಸಿ ಮಲಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಚಕ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ಹಾಕುವ ಕಬ್ಬಿಣದ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಸಡಿಲವಾದಾಗ, ಅದನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದು ಕಾಯಿಸಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಮರದ ಚಕ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಕೂಡಿಸಿ ನೀರುಹೊಯ್ಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆಗ ಸಂಕೋಚಗೊಂಡ ಕಬ್ಬಿಣದ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಬಿಗಿಯಾಗಿ ಹಿಡಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಮುರಿದ ಕಬ್ಬಿಣದ ಗುಳಗಳನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸುವುದೂ ಉಂಟು. ಎರಡನ್ನೂ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಕಾಯಿಸಿ ಸೇರಿಸಿ ಬಡಿಯುವುದೇ ಅದರ ಕೆಲಸ. ಇದೇ ಮುಂತಾದ ಕೆಲಸಗಳು ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯವಾದುದರಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಕಡೆಯ ಪಕ್ಷ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದರೂ ಕಮ್ಮಾರ ಇರುವುದು ರೂಢಿ. ಆದರೆ ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ಕೆಲವು ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಮ್ಮಾರ ಕಣ್ಮರೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರಣ ಕಮ್ಮಾರಿಕೆಯಿಂದ ಜೀವನೋಪಾಯ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸುಗಮವಾಗಿ ಸಾಗದು.

*ಮರಗೆಲಸ :

ಮರಗೆಲಸವು ಒಂದು ಕುಶಲ ವೃತ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕಸುಬಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡಲಾದ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಕೆಲಸವೆಂದರೆ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ವಸ್ತುಗಳ ಕತ್ತರಿಸುವಿಕೆ, ಆಕಾರ ಕೊಡುವಿಕೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಅನುಸ್ಥಾಪನ. ಈ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಡಗಳು, ಹಡಗುಗಳು, ಮರದ ಸೇತುವೆಗಳು, ಕಾಂಕ್ರೀಟ್ ಆಕಾರಗೆಲಸ, ಇತ್ಯಾದಿಗಳ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಮರಗೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವವನನ್ನು ಬಡಗಿ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕವಾಗಿ ಬಡಗಿಗಳು ನೈಸರ್ಗಿಕ ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಬಳಸಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು ಮತ್ತು ಚೌಕಟ್ಟು ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದಂತಹ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಒರಟಾದ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು, ಆದರೆ ಇಂದು ಅನೇಕ ಇತರ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡ ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಕೆಲವೊಮ್ಮೆ ಜೋಡಣೆಗಾರಿಕೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಪೀಠೋಪಕರಣ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದಂತಹ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಸೂಕ್ಷ್ಮವಾದ ಉದ್ಯೋಗಗಳನ್ನು ಮರಗೆಲಸವೆಂದು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಮೇರಿಕದಲ್ಲಿ, ಶೇಕಡ ೯೮.೫ ರಷ್ಟು ಬಡಗಿಗಳು ಪುರುಷರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಮತ್ತು ೧೯೯೯ರಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿನ ನಾಲ್ಕನೇ ಅತಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪುರುಷ ಪ್ರಾಬಲ್ಯದ ವೃತ್ತಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. ೨೦೦೬ರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಮೇರಿಕದಲ್ಲಿ, ಸುಮಾರು ೧.೫ ಮಿಲಿಯನ್ ಮರಗೆಲಸ ಸ್ಥಾನಗಳಿದ್ದವು. ಒಂದು ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಬಡಗಿಗಳು ಮೊದಲು ಬರುವ ಮತ್ತು ಕೊನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಕುಶಲಕರ್ಮಿಯಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ.

*ನೆಯ್ಗೆ :

ನೆಯ್ಗೆಯು ಬಟ್ಟೆ ಉತ್ಪಾದನೆಯ ಒಂದು ವಿಧಾನವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯ ರಚನೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಎರಡು ಭಿನ್ನ ನೂಲುಗಳು ಅಥವಾ ದಾರಗಳ ಸಮೂಹಗಳನ್ನು ಸಮಕೋನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಣೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇತರ ವಿಧಾನಗಳೆಂದರೆ ಹೆಣಿಗೆ, ಕ್ರೋಷಾ ಹೆಣಿಗೆ, ಫ಼ೆಲ್ಟಿಂಗ್, ಮತ್ತು ಕಸೂತಿ ಹೆಣಿಗೆ ಅಥವಾ ಪ್ಲೇಯ್ಟಿಂಗ್. ಉದ್ದುದ್ದವಾಗಿ ಹೋಗುವ ದಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಸು ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಡ್ಡಡ್ಡವಾಗಿ ಹೋಗುವ ದಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಕ್ಕು ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ದಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಹೆಣೆಯುವ ವಿಧಾನವು ಬಟ್ಟೆಯ ಗುಣಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರಭಾವ ಬೀರುತ್ತದೆ. ಬಟ್ಟೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಮಗ್ಗದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೆಣೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ಸಾಧನವು ಹೊಕ್ಕುದಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಸುದಾರಗಳ ಮುಖಾಂತರ ಹೆಣೆಯುವಾಗ ಹಾಸುದಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಅದರ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಡಿದಿಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಬಟ್ಟೆಯ ಈ ವ್ಯಾಖ್ಯಾನವನ್ನು ಪಾಲಿಸುವ ಬಟ್ಟೆಯ ಪಟ್ಟಿಯನ್ನು (ನಡುವೆ ಹೊಕ್ಕುದಾರದ ಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಹಾಸುದಾರಗಳು) ಇತರ ವಿಧಾನಗಳನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿಯೂ ತಯಾರಿಸಬಹುದು. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಫಲಕ ಹೆಣಿಗೆ, ಹಿಂಬದಿ ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಮಗ್ಗ, ಅಥವಾ ಮಗ್ಗಗಳಿರದ ಇತರ ತಂತ್ರಗಳು ಸೇರಿವೆ.

*ಕುಂಬಾರಿಕೆ :

ಕುಂಬಾರಿಕೆಯು ಜೇಡಿಮಣ್ಣು ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಕಚ್ಚಾ ವಸ್ತುಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹಡಗುಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆ ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ಪನ್ನವಾಗಿದೆ, ಇವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾದ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾಳಿಕೆ ಬರುವ ರೂಪವನ್ನು ನೀಡಲು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ತಾಪಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಪ್ರಮುಖ ವಿಧಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮಣ್ಣಿನ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳು , ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪಿಂಗಾಣಿ ಸೇರಿವೆ . ಅಂತಹ ಸಾಮಾನುಗಳನ್ನು ಕುಂಬಾರರು ತಯಾರಿಸುವ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಕುಂಬಾರಿಕೆ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.  ಕಲಾ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಮತ್ತು ಪುರಾತತ್ತ್ವ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಮತ್ತು ಇತಿಹಾಸಪೂರ್ವ ಅವಧಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, “ಕುಂಬಾರಿಕೆ” ಎಂದರೆ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳು ಮಾತ್ರ, ಮತ್ತು ಅದೇ ವಸ್ತುವಿನ ಕೆತ್ತಿದ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆಗಳನ್ನು ” ಟೆರಾಕೋಟಾಸ್ ” ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.
