ವಿಧಾನಸೌಧವು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ವಿಧಾನ ಮಂಡಲದ ಸಭೆ ನಡೆಯುವ ಕಟ್ಟಡ. ಇದರ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವು ಮಾಜಿಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಕೆಂಗಲ್ ಹನುಮಂತಯ್ಯನವರ ಆಡಳಿತದ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವಾಯಿತು. ವಿಧಾನಸೌಧಕ್ಕೆ 1951 ಜುಲೈ 13ರಂದು ಅಂದಿನ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಜವಾಹರಲಾಲ್‌ ನೆಹರು ಶಂಕುಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ೧೯೫೨ರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾದ ಕಟ್ಟಡ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಕಾರ್ಯವು ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ನಾಲ್ಕು ವರ್ಷಗಳಾದವು. ೫೦೦೦ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕೆಲಸಗಾರರು ಈ ಕಟ್ಟಡ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು. ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳ ಇಲಾಖೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಎಂಜಿನಿಯರ್‌ ಹಾಗೂ ವಾಸ್ತುಶಿಲ್ಪಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ಮಾಣಿಕ್ಯಂ ಕಟ್ಟಡ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದ ಉಸ್ತುವಾರಿ ನೋಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಇದರ ವಾಸ್ತುಶಿಲ್ಪವು ಮೈಸೂರು ದ್ರಾವಿಡ ಶೈಲಿ ಎಂದು ಕೆಲವರು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ಕಟ್ಟಡದ ವಾಸ್ತುಶೈಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಡೋ ಸಾರ್ಸೆನಿಕ್ ಮತ್ತು ದ್ರಾವಿಡ ಶೈಲಿಯ ಹಲವಾರು ಅಂಶಗಳು ಆಡಕವಾಗಿದೆ. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಗೆಜೆಟ್‌ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಅಂದು ವಿಧಾನಸೌಧ ಕಟ್ಟಲು ತಗುಲಿದ ವೆಚ್ಚ ₹ 1.75ಕೋಟಿ. ಪೂರ್ವ, ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ, ಉತ್ತರ, ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶದ್ವಾರಗಳಿದ್ದು ಎತ್ತರವಾದ ಕೆತ್ನೆಯುಳ್ಳ ಕಂಬಗಳು ಕಟ್ಟಡಕ್ಕೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಮೆರುಗು ತಂದುಕೊಟ್ಟಿವೆ. ಕಟ್ಟಡದ ಮೇಲ್ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಣ್ಸೆಳೆವ ಗೋಪುರಗಳೂ ಇವೆ.

ಒಂದನೇ ಮಹಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಧಾನಸಭೆ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿಧಾನಪರಿಷತ್‌ ಸಭಾಂಗಣಗಳಿದ್ದು ವಿಶಾಲವಾಗಿದೆ. ದೊಡ್ಡದಾದ ಈ ಸಭಾಂಗಣದ ಮಧ್ಯಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದೂ ಕಂಬ ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವುದು ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ವಿಶೇಷ.

ಪ್ರತಿ ಮಹಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನಲವತ್ತರಿಂದ ನಲವತ್ತೈದು ಕೊಠಡಿಗಳಿದ್ದು 3ನೇ ಮಹಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ಯಾಬಿನೆಟ್‌ ಹಾಲ್‌ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಾನ್‌ಫರೆನ್ಸ್‌ ಹಾಲ್‌ ಇದೆ.
