ರಾಜೇ ಮತ್ತು ಉಮಾಬಾಯಿ ಶಿವನನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು ಮತ್ತು ವಿವಿಧ ವ್ರತಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು ಮತ್ತು ಸಂತಾನವನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲು ಸಾಲ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಉಮಾಬಾಯಿ ಅವರು ವಿವಿಧ ಸಂತರು ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಧುಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಮರ್ಪಿತರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅಹಮದ್‌ನಗರದ ಷಾ ಷರೀಫ್‌ ಪೀರ್‌ಗೆ ಆಕೆ ಏನಾದರೂ ಭರವಸೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಳು. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಅವಳ ಒಂದೇ ಒಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೆ, ಅವಳು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮಗುವಿನ ತಾಯಿಯಾಗಬೇಕು!

ಮತ್ತು ಶೀಘ್ರದಲ್ಲೇ ಅವಳು ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾದಳು. ಇಬ್ಬರೂ ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟರು. ಶಿಖರದ ರಾಜ (ಶಿಂಗ್ಣಾಪುರ) – (ಶಿವ) ಶಂಭು ಅವರಿಂದ ತೃಪ್ತನಾದ. ಅವಳು ಒಬ್ಬ ಮಗನಿಗೆ ಜನ್ಮ ನೀಡಿದಳು (ಸುಮಾರು ಕ್ರಿ.ಶ. 1600). ಮಗ ತುಂಬಾ ಸುಂದರ ಮತ್ತು ಆರೋಗ್ಯವಂತನಾಗಿದ್ದ. ಅವರಿಗೆ ‘ಶಾಹಾಜಿ ರಾಜೆ’ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಮಾಲೋಜಿರಾಜೇ ಹೆರಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ದಾನಧರ್ಮಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ನಿಜಾಮಶಾಹಿ ಆಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಲೋಜಿರಾಜೆ ಕೂಡ ಎತ್ತರಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಳೆದಿದ್ದರು. ಆಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕ ಇತರ ಮರಾಠ ಸರದಾರರಿದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಇತರ ಸರ್ದಾರ್‌ಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಲಿಸಿದರೆ ಮಾಲೋಜಿರಾಜರು ತಮ್ಮದೇ ಜನರು ಮತ್ತು ಧರ್ಮದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ವಿಭಿನ್ನವಾದ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರು. ಉಳಿದವರು ರಾಜಸೇವೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರತರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಉಳಿದವರಿಗೆ, ಆರಾಧನೆಯು ದೇವರಿಂದ ಏನನ್ನಾದರೂ ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಮತ್ತು ಬೇಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ತೃಪ್ತಿಪಡಿಸಿದ ನಂತರ ಅವರ ಭರವಸೆಯನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸಲು ಮಾತ್ರ ಸೀಮಿತವಾಗಿತ್ತು.

ಶಹಾಜಿ ತನ್ನ ಜೀವನದ ಕೊನೆಯ 20 ವರ್ಷಗಳನ್ನು ದಕ್ಷಿಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳೆದರು, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿಜಾಪುರ ಮತ್ತು ಗೋಲ್ಕಂಡ ಸುಲ್ತಾನರು, ಅವನತಿ ಹೊಂದುತ್ತಿರುವ ವಿಜಯನಗರ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯದಿಂದ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳನ್ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.

ಉತ್ತರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊಘಲರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಶಾಂತಿಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ ನಂತರ, ಬಿಜಾಪುರ ಸರ್ಕಾರವು ತನ್ನ ಸೇನೆಯನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ದಕ್ಷಿಣದ ಗಡಿಭಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಿಸಿತು. ಜನರಲ್ ರುಸ್ತಮ್-ಇ-ಜಮಾನ್ ರಣದುಲ್ಲಾ ಖಾನ್ ನೇತೃತ್ವದ ಸೈನ್ಯವು ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಕ್ರಮಣ ಮಾಡಿತು ಮತ್ತು ಶಹಾಜಿ ಈ ಸೈನ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಧೀನ ಕಮಾಂಡರ್ ಆಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.
